Mosaic has 4 independent planners working with and on behalf of individuals with a disability and their families in San Bernadino, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial Counties. You can find out more information about the background and skills of the independent planners, also known as service or support brokers, by requesting their personal profiles at admin@mosaiclink.org. If you are interested in using an independent planner to develop your own personalized plan including supports, services and an estimated individualized budget, please contact PeggieWebb@mosaiclink.org. If you are interested in becoming an independent planner, please send an email to PeggieWebb@mosaiclink.org for more information about the academic and practice requirements for this new and challenging role. To learn more about independent planning, also known as supports brokerage, independent facilitation or service brokerage, contact Peggie Webb or check out the following link: www.eossb.org. This is just one of many resources that offer a good explanation of the principles of independent planning services. A truly independent broker is one who is not employed by the agency that provides you with direct care services or approves your funding for those services. This type of planning minimizes the risk for a “conflict of interest” to occur when a planner is assisting you in developing your personalized plan and supports. The new Self Directed Services program in California will provide supports brokerage and individualized funding as specifically defined by this waiver.
